The Nevis Heritage Trail and signage were developed through a grant from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in 2004. The distinctive blue and green Heritage Trail signs around the island indicate the various forts, churches, great house ruins and other places of historic significance around Nevis. In 2024, the NHCS was the recipient of a grant from UNESCO Creative Caribbean-University of the West Indies- CARICOM, with funding through ACP/ACP-EU Culture and the European Union, for a project that will include new heritage trail signage, enhanced legislation to protect built heritage in Nevis, and a national (Nevis island) heritage register.
