NEVIS HISTORY
This small museum takes you through Nevis’ history, from Amerindians up to Emancipation and Independence, with a glimpse into the African influences in Nevis today, as well as stories of Nevisians and people of Nevisian heritage who have achieved greatness.

ALEXANDER HAMILTON
Born in Nevis c. 1754-1757, Hamilton became a key Founding Father of the United States and supported educational opportunities for others, notably for African Americans and Native Americans. Learn more about the life and work of Alexander Hamilton in this exhibition inside Trott House.

This special exhibit looks at everyday people who were the originators and shapers of modern Nevis society. They include resisters, matriarchs, abolitionsists, skilled persons and survivors who made a life for themselves and their families, despite the appalling treatment and conditions at the time. Delve into the stories of Patty the midwife, Tom Jones the stonemason, and Pero the personal servant whose legacy lives on through Pero's Bridge in the UK, which honours him and other Africans and Caribbean persons who were enslaved by Bristol's merchants and planters. Based on research by Christine Eickelmann and David Small, and sponsored in part through a Cultures of Resistsance Award.

This new museum aims to take visitors on a voyage through Nevis maritime traditions, from fish trap making and boat building, pirates and privateering, to the role of race and enslavement in its national maritime economy.

This virtual exhibition, sponsored by a Cultures of resistance Award, includes historical images of Nevisian women, seldom seen by the general public, as well as specific women of Nevisian ancestry, past and present who have made noteworthy contributions on a regional and international level. Launching on International Women's Day, March 8th!
